How Do You Rate Your Sex Life? 80% Over Age 60 Say: "FUN!"

When we see older adults depicted in ads or films as sexually active, it’s often played for laughs. Remember the Downey Wrinkle Guard ad where the grandparents are in a closet dealing with items falling off a shelf and their teenage grandson overhears them loudly oohing and aahing. His misconception that they are having sex is confirmed by their wrinkled clothes when they step out of the closet. The ad subtly plays on the myth that older people aren’t sexually active. If they are, it’s assumed any sex must be dull and riddled with problems. But is that true? To find out, I conducted a survey of 555 people over 60 in the U.S., asking about their sexual satisfaction, experiences, desire, and outlook of their sexual future. Here's what I discovered.

Sexual Satisfaction: Still Going Strong!

When asked to rate the quality of their sexual experiences over the past year on a scale of 1 (Worst Possible Sex) to 10 (Best Possible Sex), their positivity was overwhelming.

  • A whopping 75% rated their sexual experiences 5 or higher—in other words, "GOOD SEX."

  • An impressive 30% described their sexual experiences as GREAT SEX (rating 8+).

Contrary to stereotypes, 84% said they look forward to their next sexual encounter, proving that desire doesn’t wane with age! Far from being characterized by dysfunction or disinterest, they see their sex lives as enjoyable and fulfilling.

Challenges? Sure. Fun? Absolutely!

I found people over 60 approach their sex lives with vitality and optimism, embracing the joys of intimacy even as they acknowledge the realities of aging.

  • 60% acknowledged sex is more physically demanding now.

  • 70% admitted it’s not the "best sex of their lives."

At the same time, they have overwhelming sexual positivity.

  • 80% describe their sex experiences as FUN!

  • 67% call their sexual experiences EXCITING!

A Bright and Orgasmic Future

One of the most fascinating findings was the optimism about how they viewed their sexual future.

  • Nearly 80% believe they haven’t experienced their last orgasm yet.

  • When asked to project how many orgasms they have left, an inspiring 70% expect infinite orgasms ahead!

Takeaway: Lifelong Sexuality

People over 60 are proving that sex can be satisfying, exciting, and fun at any stage of life. The myth that aging spells the end of sexual fulfillment? Busted! Whether it’s embracing new forms of intimacy, maintaining high levels of desire, or simply enjoying the journey, they’re proving that sexual vitality is ageless.

There’s much to celebrate in this vibrant chapter of sexuality—it’s not the end of the story; it’s just a new beginning.
